Which regions have become more accessible in Ghana?
On 9 April 2021, our colleagues Olivier Walther and Maria Uribasterra gave a presentation on the new accessibility model they have started to develop. The model links the factors of transportation and population growth to land use changes in Ghana. The preliminary findings show that accessibility has exponentially improved in Ghana in the last 30 years. Consequently, peripheral regions become more attractive to farmers, loggers and mining companies, potentially leading to deforestation.
